A hands-on workshop in the beautiful Finchley Memorial Hospital community garden discovering herbs' uses for people and pollinators
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on workshop in the beautiful Finchley Memorial Hospital community garden. As part of Pollinators, Pathways and the Historic Walks of Finchley, this session invites you to plant your own herbs to take home while discovering their uses for both people and pollinating insects when in bloom.
You’ll learn simple planting techniques, explore the benefits of common herbs, and enjoy time in a peaceful green space that supports wellbeing for patients, staff, and visitors alike. Volunteers will also share the story of the garden—how it was created, how it’s cared for, and its role in reconnecting nature within the local area.
Whether you’re new to gardening or just curious, this is a welcoming opportunity to get your hands in the soil, learn something new, and connect with Finchley’s living heritage.
Finchley Pollinator Project
The Finchley Pollinator Project is a community-led group working to improve local habitat for pollinators. Over the last four years they have engaged many of the local organisations, groups and individuals, increasing marginalised people’ wellbeing by engaging with nature through joyful activities which also improve the local area.
Finchley Memorial Hospital N12 0JE
A group of volunteers has recently taken on the upkeep of an area of the garden, growing a mix of flowers and vegetables. The harvested vegetables have been donated to the hospital staff. Anyone interested in joining the group is welcome.
