Light + Flight is shaped by the voices of more than 2,000 residents who helped imagine a cultural programme rooted in Barnet's stories, people, and places. The programme celebrates the borough's hidden stories, diverse communities, and the next generation of talent, shining a light on what makes Barnet distinctive while looking ahead to what's possible.
Our co-created programme begins with public events starting in spring 2026, igniting creative activity across the borough and building momentum through the summer. Everything then leads to a major artistic commission and a free, multi-day festival in late 2026 - a celebration of art, music, storytelling, and collective fun.

Barnet Lights Up in 2026!
Light + Flight is a new, borough-wide cultural programme unfolding across 2026, bringing together artists, communities and local stories, culminating in a free, multi-day arts and heritage festival.
From Edgware to Cricklewood, Colindale to Finchley – creativity is taking flight across Barnet.
Light + Flight is a Cultural Impact Award initiative, part of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture programme.
