For Light + Flight, Barnet-based artist Becky Lyon presents Solidarities, an artistic project surfacing and celebrating our geological heritage shared in-common and as a commons. ‘Solidarities' alludes to both the apparent solidity of rock and the concept of being in solidarity with each other across differences.

Through sensory installations, one-on-one performances and stone safaris across the Barnet Plateau, this project will bring to light the shared resonances deep beneath our feet, cross invisible boundaries, and re-story the ground.

"I am excited to spotlight Barnet, and the Barnet Plateau's incredible ecology and natural history - often overlooked by Londoner’s and locals alike! I'm looking forward to exploring how nature, in this case the unseen London Clay and chalk streams beneath our feet, can be a way to find and share resonances across our different heritages, geographies and lifeways. My role as an artist is to shape how we draw this out, and how this feels."

About The Artist

Becky Lyon is an artist and researcher of mixed British and Jamaican heritage exploring the politics of ecology in England.
