F.U.S.E. Youth Projects

F.U.S.E Youth Project will be making a short film that documents the heritage of youth clubs in Grahame Park and Colindale, highlighting their history, community impact and long-standing contribution to local life. This project brings forward underrepresented stories of youth work and shows how Barnet has maintained youth provision through resilience, collaboration and grassroots leadership, even as many clubs across London have closed.

The film will be co-developed by local young people, and will include interviews, memories and the evolution of both current and former youth clubs. It will be screened at F.U.S.E’s Unit 10 in summer 2026 and at the Light + Flight programme finale later that year, accompanied by an online heritage booklet and digital access to the film.

"We are excited to create something that will be long lasting and a will encapsulate the history and stories of so many local people."

About F.U.S.E Youth Project

F.U.S.E supports children and young people living on housing estates across Barnet through weekly after-school clubs in Grahame Park and West Hendon. Their sessions are co-designed and delivered by a Junior Leadership team aged 16–19, supported by trained youth workers. They also run holiday clubs with free meals, plus community events and activities that bring residents of all ages together. They provide open access youth work, outreach, sports, mentoring, employment support and family-focused provision. Or aim is to create safe spaces for young people and create pathways for those aspiring to become future leaders within the community.

"By highlighting stories that are often unseen, this project transforms the journeys of Burnt Oak's Nepalese community into moments of reflection, connection, and celebration. It aligns with the spirit of Light + Flight, illuminating our heritage while exploring the movement, resilience, and creativity of our community."

Light + Flight is presented by Art in Barnet. It is supported by a Cultural Impact Award, part of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture programme. It is made possible with additional support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England.
