Arrivals – Animating the Stories of Grahame Park is a ten-month community heritage project which highlights the story of the Hendon Aerodrome, and the Grahame Park estate which is built on its footprint, as a place of arrivals and journeys. Leaning into the area’s aviation heritage, it animates the diverse journeys of communities coming to the estate.
The project will:
Train 10 local community members as Grahame Park heritage champions in skills such as archival research, digital archives and oral histories
Produce 5 training sessions with archival specialist Alan Crookham, the head of the Library and Archives at the National Gallery
Include the RAF Museum and the Tate as heritage partners
Offer 5 drama-based workshops on the theme of “arrival” to the estate with the Centre of Excellence
Present 10 panels created by our community researchers on “arrivals” to the estate forming an exhibition
Develop an inclusive heritage research group for Grahame Park
"We are excited that our local community will get the chance to tell their stories and highlight the amazing place which is the Grahame Park estate! We are also excited that our community members will be trained and get to work with the RAF Museum and the Tate which is a great opportunity for local people. It also excites us that we will also a new heritage group created for the future."
